Outer Banks Recap

Wednesday, July 5, 2023

Hello all! Recently I was in the Outer Banks for a wedding. My husband and I spent about a week there and we had a ton of fun spending most of the week outdoors. I will do a separate post about the house we stayed in, but it was stunning.

The house we stayed in had this incredible view. We would get up in the mornings to sit at the beach for a little while before going out for the day. I brought several books to read and loved sitting on the beach or by the house's pool reading. The house had a lazy river so I spent a lot of times floating in it with my books.

Every morning I tried to go to a different coffee shop. We would drive around some of the little shopping centers and pick one at random. For me, going to a coffee shop and reading or chatting with a friend is the height of relaxing. My favorite coffee shop we tried was the one from the first day (the first photo).

We also visited a couple of the lighthouses while we were there. The photos above are the Bodie Island Lighthouse. The other lighthouse pictured is called the Currituck Beach Lighthouse.

The rehearsal dinner for the wedding was held at the vacation house we all stayed at. It was beautiful and they had a low country boil. I wore my Rouje dress from last year. They have a similar one this year here.

Pictured above is one of the Jeeps we used to drive around the beach. We spent quite a lot of time in the mornings driving on the beaches to see the horses. You could also drive behind the dunes in neighborhoods built into the dunes. It was fun to explore some of the backroads here. I also loved the old homes built right on the beach.

Here are a couple of photos from the wedding held on the beach.  I loved this dress, especially for a beach wedding. It is old from Reformation and is called the Maddison Silk Dress. You can still find it on Poshmark. I found this purse from Home Goods for only $10! I have been seeing them everywhere online for $50+.

Our trip was such a fun experience. We both went back and forth if we wanted to take a full week off of work or just a couple days and were both very glad we made the choice to take the full week.

Thanks for reading!
Lauren
