Graduation!

Monday, December 23, 2019

I cannot believe I finally made it. This past month I was fortunate enough to graduate after years of very hard work. My entire family and some very close friends were able to join me and it could not have been a more perfect weekend.

If any of you who are reading this are frustrated because you are not graduating when you planned, don't give up! Mine had been pushed back a couple times for multiple reasons. I learned a lot from those experiences and both times, I pushed myself even harder to get to my goal. I also did not graduate with the same major that I began with. After a lot of self-reflection, I did what was best for me and was a much happier person after switching majors. Don't pressure yourself to have a timeline, just work as hard as you possibly can and keep persevering.

Beauty Gift Guide

Monday, December 9, 2019

Good morning everyone! Here I have included  a wide range of some of my favorite beauty products + some that are on my wish list. I tried to include budget-friendly options as well as some more luxurious options.  The lowest being this Vitamin C Serum $10 (I use it every day!!) and the highest being this perfume $200, that is currently on my wishlist (if you go to Byredo's website, the scent has the cutest backstory).

Once of my favorite products on here is this coffee scrub. Coffee scrubs for me have been the BEST skin exfoliator. My skin is always notably softer/smoother.

This razor subscription is what I will be getting my sister for Christmas. I have had my own subscription for the past year and have been blown away by the quality, price, and customer service. I will be doing a full review on them in the coming weeks. They currently have a 6 month subscription gift for $27, but to be honest one of their packs lasts me two months (I am personally on the ship every two month plan) so if my sister is anything like me, hers will last her a year.

If you are needing any more ideas, send me an email or a DM and I'm happy to help!

My Christmas Wishlist

Gift guides are one of my favorite blog posts to read. I love getting ideas for what to purchase and/or gift to people. Today (in the midst of finishing some final projects for school), I am sharing what is currently on my wishlist. I have a good mix on here of beauty, fashion, and apartment ideas. If you have any gift guides in particular you'd like to see, feel free to send me a message! I am currently getting my Gift Guide for Him finished.

Where to Spend an Evening in Savannah

Wednesday, October 30, 2019

One of the most common questions I get are recommendations for places to visit in Savannah, whether that be for food, good Instagram spots, or shopping. I have a general guide for the places I like in Savannah seen here, however I wanted to dedicate a whole post to the places I recommend for the evening! If you guys love my Savannah and travel posts, I will start sharing more of them as a series.

1) Peregrin Savannah:
Such a beautiful rooftop bar! It is easily my favorite on this list. This is where I took the photo seen above. I had a frozen rosé there and loved it! Plus, the decor is on point 😋(Instagram)

2) The Grove:
The Grove is absolutely adorable in downtown Savannah. This is where a lot of my friends recommend for a night out! The food is amazing and one of the benefits of this place is that it is located right next to City Market, so before or after dinner and drinks you can walk around all the little shops and see lots of local art. (Instagram)

3) Lost Square Rooftop Bar:
I was fortunate enough to get a private tour of the Alida Hotel and of their new rooftop bar The Lost Square. The WHOLE hotel is ridiculously beautiful and right on the Savannah River. You get an impeccable view of the bridge from here as well as a view of River Street.
P.S. At the hotel gift-shop, they have an exclusive candle that is supposed to smell like Savannah. I have it in my bedroom currently and love it. (Instagram)

4) Rocks on the Roof:
I have been here with my family before and LOVE it! Rocks on the Roof is located on top of the Bohemian Hotel (which I highly recommend staying at) right on River Street. The location could not be more ideal and the view is amazing. (Instagram)

5) Little Duck Diner:
If you are not into bars, this is another great option. They have the cutest duckies in their drinks + milkshakes and the food is top notch! For those looking for a good food/drink 'Insta' picture, this is the place for you. (Instagram)

6) Lulu's Chocolate Bar:
If you are like me and have a major sweet tooth, then I cannot recommend this place enough. My favorite dessert is their chocolate moose and last time I went, they made me a not on the menu virgin chocolate martini drink. (website)

7) Top Deck:
Recommended to me by several friends and also located on River Street. They have an amazing view of the river and I been have told their drinks are impeccable. (Instagram)

8) Sorry Charlie's Oyster Bar:
Oysters are at the top of my favorite foods list, which makes Sorry Charlie's perfect. They serve fresh and local seafood and is the perfect place to have dinner for a night in Savannah. It is also located on Ellis square, which I highly recommend visiting the squares around Savannah. (website)

My Fall Wishlist

SunglassesNeedlepoint ShoesHatFlats

Happy Fall y'all! Here is a little peek into my shopping list this fall (i.e. I already have a couple things on here 😅). I am loving the needlepoint trend this Fall and adore these shoes! My boyfriend and I try really hard to go phone-free as much as possible and Fall is such a great time to do this. An example of this is the other night my roommates brought home a puzzle that we have all been working on: my current favorite one is here. Aannndd last, but not least, you cannot forget about skincare as the months get colder. I tend to get really chapped lips and have found Lanolips to have great products that help. Plus, how great is this pumpkin face mask??

My Excursion to 30a

Tuesday, September 24, 2019

Recently, I took a long weekend over to the Gulf Coast and traveled around highway 30a. It was so beautiful! I had pictured the water looking similar to the keys, however it was easy to see why it is called the Emerald Coast! It was pretty different, a beautiful deep, clear green color. I had so much fun riding around the coast and trying a ton of the restaurants there. My favorite (sort of pictured above) was a food truck in an old Airstream camper that had brisket nachos. Have any of you ever traveled here??

How I Finally Cleared my Skin

Sunday, September 15, 2019

Acne is something I have struggled with for as long as I can remember. I started having breakouts before a lot of my friends and nothing ever seemed to make a dent in it. It's worth noting when I say acne, I mean cysts covering my cheeks, chin, forehead and blackheads all over my chin and nose. All of the products I would use trying to clear it up, would make my skin look dry, dull, and washed out. When I would put on makeup, because my skin wasn't balanced, after an hour it was oily and gross. Some well known products made it unbelievable worse, while others just didn't do anything. I have visited my dermatologist for years and tried multiple prescription products. Unfortunately, most of these did not help either.

The first step to my clear skin: I had wanted to try a Clarisonic for several years, but they are expensive and it never seemed like a good time to invest. Just over a year ago, I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to work with them, so I received a Clarisonic Mia in the mail. I tried their acne wash and acne brush, but what seemed to work the best was the standard brush that they come with. The first thing I noticed was that the bumps I usually had all over my forehead seemed to be dissapearing. Now, it didn't completely get rid of them, or clear all of my acne, however my complexion really started improving.

Next, exactly one year ago, my boyfriend was watching the Instagram story of a photographer he liked raving about how the Kate Somerville face wash had completely cleared his skin. Me, still struggling with acne, decided to order it and give it a try along with my Clarisonic. WOW! Within just a couple days, my skin color and texture improved dramatically. After a couple weeks, most of my acne was gone - minus some of the remaining bumps on my forehead. The acne along my cheeks, which I was the most embarrassed about, completely dissapeared. I continued to use it and love it!

About this time I also decided to try a new lotion to see if that would help clear up the rest (I had done this many times unsuccessfully). A popular blogger that I like said that she loved Sunday Riley Tidal lotion and it had helped with her skin tone without breaking her out or being oily, so I ordered it. I immediately loved it. I started using it at night only and that 'washed-out' look that my skin had for so long started to go away. My skin looked so healthy and finally mostly clear. I started having days where I could leave the house without makeup and still feel just as confident. My breakouts at this point were very minimal - more days than not, I actually had a clear face. I also have tried the Drunk Elephant Protini cream and even though I love the Sunday Riley one more, the Drunk Elephant cream is amazing as well.

The Glossier solution is a recent addition. I bought it because reviews said that it had helped them with bumps and blackheads, which I still had sometimes. I started using it morning and night in between my wash and lotion, and it has completely cleared up my forehead bumps and has kept them away. I know the face pads are for removing makeup, however my sister purchased me some and I love using them to apply my Glossier Solution.

It's worth noting that I use a prescription retinol cream to help with some of the dark spots remaining on my face. There are a lot of non-prescription versions though, I have heard the Drunk Elephant one is amazing. I have been fortunate enough not to suffer from scaring. I also love face masks. The two that I have found that help my acne and don't cause breakouts are one: Glam Glow Supermud and two: Lush Cosmetics Just to Clarify. I slightly like the Lush face mask better. It's a better price and brightens my skin more. The Glam Glow mask lasts a lot longer though, especially with the larger size.

To wrap up, my routine is:
  1. Wash my face with my Clarisonic and Kate Somerville EradiKate
  2. Use pads to apply the Glossier Solution
  3. Apply Retinol
  4. Once it's dry, apply small amount of lotion
  5. 1-2 times per week, use a face mask
Everyone's skin is different so I can't say that this combo will fix anyone else's acne, but these have certainly worked for me. If you are interested in trying any of these, I would try them one-by-one and wait a little in between products so that you can see how you react to them. I linked all of the products underneath the photo and at the bottom of the post if you are interested!

Summertime in Savannah Georgia

Thursday, May 23, 2019

Happy Summer vacation to all my readers! I am so excited to be on break and have more time dedicated to creating new content. Today, I am so excited to share my favorite two-piece that I have found this summer! It is from a new-to-me brand called Mara Hoffman (a bunch of you reached out to me on my Instagram to say you loved her).  So far I have been very impressed by the quality of the suit, which is something I am very picky about.

A couple of my other favorite swimsuits this season are this one from Kiini which is currently on sale. I have another one of their suits and absolutely love it! I also love this one-piece from J. Crew. Another new-to-me brand that I have found and love is Boutine LA. I am looking for a good/simple neutral bikini and I think I may try them. I would love to hear if any of you have any suggestions!

Spring 2019 Shopping List

Thursday, April 18, 2019

Hello everybody! Today I am sharing a compilation of my favorite 'things' for Spring. I use the word things since it's really a little bit from every category (apartment, clothes, beauty, etc.). The items I have been looking at give a slight vacation vibe, I think because I am SO ready for the semester to be over and I am looking forward to traveling this summer. Even though this is my 'shopping' list, a couple of these items I already have, I just love/use them so much I recommend buying them.

With this face mask, I was #influenced (lol). Another blog I read, Bows and Sequins posted about it a while ago and I have wanted to try it ever since!

I am receiving a sample from Sephora of the Dolce and Gabbana 'Garden' scent and if I like it, I will either buy the full or size or this one that I have previously tried and loved that is linked above.

Unfortunately, the website for this ring is currently down. However, when it is finished with the update, they used to have these rings that came customized with a TON of different sororities. I will for sure be ordering one with my letters as soon as it is back up.

Previously, I had these exact sunglasses, however I just purchased them in this color and love them just as much!

I just did a blog post about these shoes, but I love them in the floral orange! The neutral pair I have are currently my most comfortable heels.

I LOVE this hard-shell luggage case! I read this really cute blog (I wish I could remember the name!!) years ago when they were first becoming trendy and thought hard-shell cases were the most practical thing because they protect your belongings from getting squished. I never bought one, but now that I am in my own apartment and traveling more, I think it may be time to invest in one.

xoxo

Shoes for Spring

Thursday, April 4, 2019

shoes | pillow
Purchasing new shoes is definitely my guilty pleasure, however I struggle to find shoes that I love. I found these from Sam Edelman last fall, however I waited to purchase them for the Spring (and when I'd hopefully find them on sale). So far, I have worn them with so many outfits and they are so comfortable! I have walked around downtown with them several times and so far, no blisters! I love that they are versatile to wear with pants or a dress/skirt. I think they come in a few colors, however I decided on a neutral color so that they would match more outfits.

Below is a short compilation of my favorites for Spring and transitioning into Summer (some of them will even be great to carry into this fall).  I love a good neutral shoe because I know I'll wear them all the time. A lot of these also come in other (bolder) colors if you like the style, but want something with a pop!

P.S. these are also on sale right now here.

Valentines Day Inspiration

Thursday, February 7, 2019

I hope you are all as excited as I am for it to be the end of the week! I have been insanely busy with school, hence the lack of outfit posts. I did however want to share some Valentine's Day inspiration with you all. Valentine's Day has always been one of my favorite holidays. I don't typically exchange big gifts with people on Valentine's Day. Instead, it is usually little cards, handmade notes, or boxes of chocolates which I think are much more personal.

This is all some inspiration for small gifts for your friends! I will probably be going to a local shop, or coffee shop this year to pick out chocolates as a gift. I also think I'll be buying the cheesy boxes of cards from Walmart to give to my coworkers, however I haven't decided a theme yet! I am thinking maybe puppies ;)

What are you guys planning for Valentine's Day?

Guide to Travel Accessories

travel bag

Thinking about Spring coming up has me daydreaming of where I want to travel this year. Spring is a relative term here since today it was 65 and gorgeous out, but it's the principle haha. When I travel, I definitely prefer to dress on the comfier side. I am totally lusting after this sweater by Tory Burch. It is so cute with that bright red color and looks so comfortable. Next on the outfit would be these adorable joggers.  I actually tried them on in-store and they were so soft. Lastly, with the outfit are these sneakers. I wear them everywhere and have not had any blisters and stay comfortable all day. Some people say that they run slightly large, however I ordered my regular size and they fit perfectly.

In terms of bags when I travel, I love my Longchamp bag. My large one has been perfect for traveling, and easily fits everything I need.  This inititaled bag would be perfect to keep cosmetics and such in while traveling. I also keep a water bottle like this one on me at all times. Honestly, it's easy to forget to drink water, especially when you are busy and carrying one at all times helps me remember. Not that I need any more water bottles, however this is the one currently on my wish list.

Next on the list is skincare while traveling! I take my Calrisonic everywhere I go. I have always struggled with acne and it has given me the clearest skin of my life. Also while traveling, it is SO SO important to moisturize. Especially if you are flying somewhere. This all in one skin balm is easy to travel with because it has several uses combined.

Lastly, on my travel necessities is a good book! I love reading and am trying to devote more time to it. To put it in perspective how much I love it, when the 7th Harry Potter book came out, I finished it in a day. Currently, I am reading the first Game of Thrones book in honor of the last season premiering.

Let me know what your travel essentials are!

My Favorite Blazer

Friday, January 11, 2019

blazer | top | jeans | shoes

First outfit post of 2019 woohoo! To start with, I bought this blazer summer of 2018 for presentations and to share a professional outfit with you all since I know many of you, like me, are in school/starting to apply for big girl jobs. I never got around to sharing it, however I did wear it for a few presentations and loved it. I purchased it from Target (I think for about $24 on sale). My only complaint is that even though I love the linen, it is SO HARD to keep is ironed. I have ironed and steamed this sucker and keep it hanging at all times and cannot get some of the wrinkles out (if you have any suggestions please share!) Otherwise I am so in love with it, and prefer love the rolled sleeves look for a more laid back appearance. I hope everyone is having an amazing start to 2019!
