On social media, a lot of people talk about shopping, but there doesn't seem to be as much conversation about budgeting and, what I call, shopping smart. I wanted to share with you guys an outfit that I purchased completely second hand and love. I really love shopping second hand because it is easier to find classic pieces, one-of-a-kind pieces, and get more bang for your buck.
Here is the breakdown of the pieces:
Dress: old Madewell ~$10
Shoes: Jack Rogers ~$40
Handbag: vintage Ferragamo ~$90
Watch: vintage Louis Vuitton ~$15
The key to buying used is patience. I am fairly particular about what I like and have a mental list of pieces I would like to add to my wardrobe. I use Poshmark, eBay, and Etsy all the time and any time we are traveling, we visit new thrift and antique stores. When looking at designer pieces, it is worth learning tricks to identify real versus fake. When shopping thrift stores, there usually isn't much organization, so I look for colors and textures that I like to help find pieces more easily.
Some of the leather bags I have purchased have needed paint touch-ups and even their straps replaced. YouTube was a great resource to learn what type of paints to use and sealants. An easy and affordable way to replace worn straps is Amazon, they have tons of different styles.
I hope you guys enjoyed!
Lauren
